இரகசிய இடம் / Secret Place
I want to start 2018 by placing a post here for you… I know I’ve been “away” but I want to let you know that I’ve never been so present 🙂
On the last day of 2017, God spoke very strongly with me in the morning service, right after I thought this has to go on my blog! We were meditating on Psalm 91 in the *purpose that we started for the first ninety-one days of the year, and the word that stood out for me was “secret place”.
He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. (Psalm 91:1)
I remember all the times I would play hide-and-seek in a time where there were no cellphones nor video games and children were as a result, much more innocent. The idea of the game was to not be found, in other words, if you were found, you’d lose. So, we’d always look for the best hiding places… inside the wardrobe, under the bed, among others… I would hide so well that the game had to end for me to come out, and I still hid long enough so that my hiding place would remain secret for the next game.
Today, I no longer play hide-and-seek, life stopped being a game and became a game of life and death. The world we live in wants to diminish, humiliate, slander, disrespect and devalue us so how do we avoid it? If you don’t leave your house, it enters your house through TV, internet or through your family members. If you run, they catch you, if you stay, they still catch you. How can we protect ourselves in such a bad society?
Dwelling in the Shelter of the Most High, only there we can truly rest…
Our Lord knew that we needed this place, but He made it very clear that it was reserved: for those who dwell in it and not those who want to tour or spend a vacation there, or even just use it as a refuge once in a while.
I have lived in the Shelter therefore…
- I did not need a diploma to be an intelligent woman.
- I did not have to “have fun” in my teenage years in order to enjoy it.
- I did not have to date many guys to find one worth it.
- I did not need popularity to be happy, nor fame to feel useful.
- I did not need to experience or try things to get the approval I needed.
- I did not need to have my body or beauty praised by the world to feel beautiful.
- I did not need followers nor likes to know my value.
My life has been practically the same routine since I know myself and that doesn’t mean it’s boring, quite the opposite, every year I conquer more, I grow more as a person, I get to know myself better, I serve my Lord more, and as a consequence I am happier and fulfilled. It’s so wonderful to live in this shelter that even the problems I’ve had, have and will have, always have done me more good than harm!
And it’s because of this spiritual home that I don’t have to fear 2018, nor bad news, nor what others say about me out there… I abide under the shadow of the Almighty One and I have rested graciously, thank you very much!
Be blessed and in this New Year may we all be together in this Shelter!
