Overcome bad thoughts

Overcome bad thoughts

Salvation is not easy.

To maintain Salvation, the person must be conscious that he has been saved, he is saved and he will be saved – if he remains faithful to the end.

To do so, we must overcome bad thoughts.

When the Lord Jesus speaks about the narrow gate and difficult way, we don’t really have a true idea of how difficult Salvation is. Matthew 7.14

Only in the face of temptations, deserts and challenges can we understand the weight of His words.

…but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it. I Corinthians 10.13

One of the secrets to keeping your Salvation is by praying in spirit. This happens immediately after a bad thought arises.

Immediately, without words, in the mind, and with all your strength, you must rebuke it.

For example, in your mind, you think: “In the Name of Jesus, you are tied-up!”

Repeat this until you are free of them.

Thoughts – good or bad – are inevitable.

The good ones (according to the Word of God) must be treasured.

The bad, or that may appear good, should be banished.

We cannot stop them from coming, but we have the power to rebuke them.

If bad thoughts come and we do not resist them immediately, they gain strength and can put our good conscience at risk and, consequently, our Salvation.

And the longer they stay, the harder they are to be repressed.

Therefore, the reaction, through brief mental prayer, must be immediate.

This about sums our daily prayer at the beginning and the end of our day:

Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. Matthew 6.9-13
