The foundation of the Christian faith is built on three fundamental events: the Crucifixion, the Resurrection, and Pentecost. These events are not based on traditions or opinions, but on historical, spiritual, and eternal truths. The 50 days between the Resurrection of Jesus and the Day of Pentecost holds a deep spiritual significance—a journey of transformation that has the power to change your life.
This period is a time of preparation to receive one of the greatest promises ever made by Jesus: the baptism of the Holy Spirit.
It all began with the Crucifixion. Jesus’ death was not just a moment of suffering, it was a deliberate act of love. On the cross, He took the place of humanity, bearing the pain for our sins. His sacrifice made forgiveness, freedom and salvation available to anyone who believes.
Three days after the Crucifixion came the second defining moment — the Resurrection. Jesus overcame death. He was without sin and found blameless, and therefore death held no power over Him. His Resurrection not only proved that He is the Son of God, but also gave eternal hope to every believer.
But the journey doesn’t end at the empty tomb. The third and decisive moment occurred 50 days after Easter — the Day of Pentecost. On this day, the promise of the Father was fulfilled, as the Holy Spirit descended upon the disciples, transforming them from ordinary men into living witnesses of God’s power. This moment marked the birth of the Church and the beginning of its mission to spread the message of faith to the world.
After His resurrection, Jesus remained with His disciples for 40 days, preparing them for what was to come. He knew that knowledge and courage alone wouldn’t be enough to carry out their calling or overcome the world. They needed the presence of the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit is God Himself dwelling within us. He is everything we truly need. However, we must desire Him intensely. When a person seeks Him with thirst, surrender, and priority, they receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit.
From Easter Sunday, 20th April, through to Pentecost on Sunday, 8th June, all Universal churches across the UK and around the world are joining in a special purpose: 50 days of faith, surrender, and seeking for the presence of the Holy Spirit. This journey will culminate in receiving the greatest gift God offers — His Spirit living within us.
These 50 days could change everything. We invite you to take part in this purpose if you’re ready to take your faith seriously and experience a true encounter with God.
