It’s Monday. But not just any Monday—it’s a bank holiday, a day many of us look forward to slowing down from our fast-paced life, and maybe reset. But what if, even today, you feel overwhelmed? Are financial pressures robbing you of your peace?
Let’s be honest, money problems can be stressful. Bills pile up, debts accumulate, and suddenly every decision feels like it carries the weight of the world. Sometimes, in the heat of the moment, we make poor choices under pressure. Maybe you have done something out of desperation, such as borrowing more than you could manage or taking a shortcut in hopes it would get you out of trouble faster. But instead of relief, you are now carrying even more weight. Sound familiar?
You are not alone and you are not the first.
Let’s take a moment to learn from the story of the Prodigal Son. Jesus told this parable to show how God responds to us in our lowest moments. A young man demanded his inheritance early. He left home in search of freedom and fulfilment, but it did not take long before his money ran out. There was a severe famine in the land and he was left feeding pigs, hungry, ashamed, and at his lowest.
Sounds like rock bottom? It was.
But here’s the turning point: he remembered his father. He realised that even the servants at home lived better than this. So, he made a decision to return not with excuses but with a humble heart.
And what happened? While he was still a long way off, his father saw him, ran to him, embraced him, and took care of him with love.
In Job 22:21 it says:
“Now acquaint yourself with Him, and be at peace; thereby good will come to you.”
When you acquaint yourself with someone, you get to know them. This verse is an invitation to draw close to God. To get to know Him like a father. When we do that, peace comes not because our problems disappear but because we are no longer facing them alone.
That peace gives you the strength to face your financial situations head-on and to trust that just like the Prodigal Son, even in a place of hardship, He will give you a way out.
Today, on this Monday of Peace, don’t let the problems win. Instead, why not take a step toward peace? Join us for our main service at 7pm. You don’t have to carry your burdens alone. There’s peace waiting for you.
