The UCKG Help Centre took the initiative to unite forces during the Pandemic and go to the communities to reach those who are lacking food. Many do not have financial conditions to purchase food and were working but lost their jobs and do not have food within their homes for their families. We are here to fight against poverty and hunger in our local communities.

First Sunday Service after five months of Lock-down in India

Our first Sunday Service! After five months of lockdown, following the rules and regulations, of the authorities of India. The Services were given hour after hour, along with the online service for those who were unable to come to the Church, such as the elders. Also our Sunday School class was given online. Precautions were taken for everyone’s safety. “I was glad when they said to me, “Let us go into the house of the LORD.” Psalms 122:1 We were all glad and will continue as from now on stronger than ever before. God bless India 🇮🇳!

VYG Help Event - Say No to Bullying & Self Mutilation

Another opportunity to create the awareness among the youths about SUICIDE! Many lost their lives in this lockdown due to various personal reasons, without thinking twice about their life. In this opportunity, on September 13, 2020, it was spoken out to the young generation that ending their life by suicide will never end their problems. The volunteers of the HELP Project, made themselves available for the participants to approach them to have personal couselling, to assist in their doubts and needs as well as to encouraged them. VYG Help Event - 13 Reasons to Start Again

With an increase in the rate of suicide of youths in India, where about 28 suicides reported every day. The VYG India conducted our second event "HELP", on September 20, 2020, in Perambur, Chennai to create suicide awareness. High rates of suicide indicate Youths at grave risk of losing mental equilibrium. Concerning this, we gave a motivational speech on "13 reasons to start again in life" to the youths, thereby giving them hope in life and building confidence within them. On this National Suicide Prevention Month, the HELP group distributed letters representing our motto "Say No to Suicide" with our helpline number '988497475.' The letters were distributed at various places enforcing the motto, illustrating that there's a way out from self-mutilation. In addition, we followed the rules and regulations, of the authorities of India, through social distancing, hand sanitizing, and checking the temperature. To ensure the safety of everyone.

Caleb Event - International Day

International Day of the Older Persons was celebrated to acknowledge and appreciate contributions made by the elderly in society. A special gathering was organized for the special people who are advanced in age. At many opportunities, the elderly are not given value due to their physical weakness and at times they are been despised too. On this very special day, we had a get together - maintaining the social distance - in order to make them feel special and valued. In this opportunity, we had some competition of singing and dancing along with a brief awareness speech on regards to their personal health and about the precautionary measures. The little care and the love offered by the Caleb Group, made them feel special, happy and valued. They are revived and renewed in their spirit and this gathering added a little hope to their life. Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, an annual campaign to increase awareness of the disease. UCKG help centre India conducted a breast cancer awareness program on 18th of this month, in Chennai, to raise awareness among women. We would like to thank Mrs. Shanthi Chittibabu, from Lion's Club for sharing her knowledge about breast cancer with us. UCKG Help Centre India, engaged in this program, as we believe in contributing to our society by creating this awareness among women, which supports our nation's efforts and measurements to save lives.
