The Universal Church has declared the month of June as the month of the Kingdom of God. Everyone is encouraged to spend this month delving deeply into the meaning of this biblical principle through studies and meditations.
What is the Kingdom of God?
The Kingdom of God is not a physical place but a spiritual place where God’s will prevails.
The Kingdom of God is sometimes misinterpreted as an earthly government or as a place to go after death. But according to what Jesus taught, it’s something far more profound—a spiritual Kingdom that starts inside of us and shows up in our lives.
It was during His time here that Jesus declared, “The Kingdom of God has come near to you.” At a time when people were expecting the political restoration of Israel, He revealed that the true Kingdom wasn’t a territory on a map but an inner transformation that spreads throughout the world.
What Jesus made clear was that “My Kingdom is not of this world.”
God’s Kingdom is not political or geographical; it is spiritual. God is in charge of our lives and should be given top priority in all of our thoughts, choices, and deeds. Jesus compared the Kingdom of God to the yeast that leavens an entire batch of dough in Matthew 13:33.
Just as yeast is invisible but transformative, the Kingdom of God begins discreetly but gradually changes our character, vision, and priorities.
As citizens of the Kingdom of God, we stand out in the way we live. People start to notice something new—a new way of thinking, speaking, and living. It’s the Kingdom manifesting itself through us. We become mirrors that reflect the Father to the world when we submit to this Kingdom, regaining the image and likeness of God that were lost through sin.
This is why the prayer Jesus taught makes sense: “Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven” (Matthew 6:10).
Being in the Kingdom of God means giving up control of our lives and letting God lead. It means living with justice, mercy, and purpose, as if Jesus were here—and He is, through us.
The Kingdom of God is a reality that is open to everyone who believes in it, not just a promise for the future. Being a citizen of that Kingdom is the best choice you can make, and it starts in your heart right now.
